Just wanted to say that I have Egg as a creditor too and they defaulted me straight away. This was mid June, I then got a further letter a month later saying my account had been termindated and it would be passed to a DCA and I would hear from them in 10 days but no far nothing! (will probably get something tomorrow now). Egg continue to accept my payments from CCCS. I can still go online and see my overall balance but no longet get updated statement which is a bit of a pain so I would suggest you keep tabs on the overall balance to see what they do with interest.
Enjoy the wine.
Sx
Thank you so much Smcshane for that
I've read on here that defaults and accounts being passed to DCA's isn't as bad as it sounds but when it happens to you for the first time it doesn't quite feel like that! Especially as it was so quick, I've literally just been late for the first time on my payments, by two weeks, so that was panic-inducing (I had lurid images of accelerated legal procedures and courts before my poor old DMP had even got going) but it's so good to know that that's what they seem to normally do. They mentioned to me about the account being terminated after the 28 day period too. Good advice about checking the balance too, I thought I wouldnt even be able to access the account online still.
Wine is lovely, straight from the fridge

JillyOJolly wrote: »Hi, great letter in principle, but the portions you have quoted are for the charges added to your account and your main beef in the letter is about interest. I did not have any interest frozen, but i did claim back the charges through the usual routes on this site with 8% interest. It did take a bit of fighting, but then I had interest reduced. Unfortunately I think their terms and conditions of charging interest are in original agreements that you signed and agreed to. I would maybe suggest claiming any charges through the correct letters route to bring the debt down and then fighting to negotiate interest after that. Unfortunately payplan always told me there was nothing I could do with regard to interest, but I did get some reduced in the end to half its normal amount.
Sorry it doesnt sound positive, and someone else may come along and put a better spin on the interest lark, I hope.

Thanks JillyOJolly.
I've taken out the part of extra charges, and simply asked for the interest to be frozen or at least reduced to help us pay off the debt.
When you mention about claiming back charges through the correct channels, how do I go about doing that?DFD February 2012

I said I'd already spoken to someone (who had been very nice) but this was the heavier mob and I was able to give my Payplan reference and then he informed me I would be issued with a default notice (that was quick! I've only missed one payment!) and if that wasn't satisfied in 28 days my account would be passed to a DCA. I know this isn't supposed to be as bad as it sounds but it hasn't really made my evening . . *goes off to have some more wine*
Hi Yellowpinky
This must just be the way Egg handle DMPs because I got a default notice straight away followed by a letter saying they were shutting down my account. I had no arrears either and it did unsettle me a bit even though I was expecting it.
I hope I won't lose access to the Egg Money manager because that really would upset me! All my different account logons drive me nuts.
This morning I got a letter from Mint telling me they were reducing the limit on my card, but not to worry as it will in no way effect my credit rating:rotfl:. I guess the big fat default notice may though!
Have you got your head around the situation yet? I still found myself stopping at the Estee lauder counter gazing longingly at the 'gift with purchase' and thinking I could afford a little splurge . I walked away, but just what has to happen before the penny drops?

the only one i have the same as you is the natwest OD and they have been my worst (sorry). It went over the limit near the beginning and they have from that point on been charging me interest AND charges which add up to more than i am paying them! so it's going up and up and they are being VERY awkward! however i'm hoping they have now defaulted me and sent me to a dca who i'm hoping willbe more reasonable. also i will be attempting to claim charges back from them. fingers crossed!
Good thing is that my Natwest OD has been passed onto a DCA who seem much more reasonable (at the moment) anyways.
Thanks for the adviceLBM - 30/07/09

HI Just thought i should let you all know have posted a couple of times on here and now have written to all creditors asking if they would be happy to deal with me instead of Payplan. I am amazed at what i have discovered and feel very stupid.
1. Payplan do not keep upto date with any company, I have discovered that they make payments until they think you are debt clear then write to everyone again for balances.
2. If I let payplan carry on with all of this they would be getting us into a lot more debt as I have discovered that HSBC (old bank account overdraft) is charging more interest than payplan is allowing them in payments, HFC Bank appear to be doing the same, it took me weeks to come to an arrangement with GE money as they said they had not heard from payplan in the nearly 2 years we have been with them, so with GE money not only did i get the interest frozen myself but I also got a lot of it back.
3. I am tired of payplan lying to me. They never ever ring back, and it seems now the only time they contact me is when they want to be a broker for me on car or house or pet insurance.
4. BAck to GE money payplan sent GE money an email apology saying that they had been at fault and had not sent the documents they say they had sent. When I confronted Payplan with this they told me GE money were lying and that they would look into it - again never rang me back.
There are many other things I am unhappy with but I have now in a few short weeks
Got the obudsman involved with hsbc as they agree hsbc caused the overdraft in the first place and have upheld my complaint.
Got PPI Back from egg (who I have to say acted brilliantly)
Got interest stopped with GE money and got money back
Got further interest and charge freezes with just about all creditors now
Had replies from all but two creditors who are happy for us to pay them direct and keep the arrangment going.
If I had not found the strength to do this our debt which we hoped to be paid in full in 5 years would have gone on for approximately double that because payplan do not keep a regular check on balance interest freezes etc.

My reply " You donot need that infomation, I have passed your security questions"
Minion "Can I take yoru email address?"
My Reply " I dont have one any more ... im on a DMP and had to loose my internet"
Minion " Can I take your mobile number?"
My Reply " You donot need that infomation"
Minion " well if you cannot gove me that infomation, I cannot verify who Im talking to"
My Reply " Ive just passed your security checks. These questions have nothing to do with my security, your just trying to gather more infomation on me"
Minion " Im afraid with out this infomation I cannot go on any further"
My Reply " No worries, you people wrote to me, Ill wait until you write to me again and well go around the same circle ...... Goodbye and thanks for all your help"....

BEWARE.
I have been with payplan now for 5 years, and am starting to feel the same way you feel. Some creditors won't accecpt the payment payplan are offering, and are therefore taking further action and charging me for it. But payplan tell me they won't pay them anymore, as its giving that creditor preferential treatment. So I don't know what to do.
So over the past few months i've started becoming alot more active in the plan. When i email payplan with a question, it either takes them days to get back, or they just don't. And when i get hold of them again, they always say they never received my email.
Keep us posted on how it goes, coz i might just follow that route soon.DFD February 2012

Interesting, using the justabank website, I can see a history of all the email corrispondence I have ever had between Payplan and myself. also if you use the web email facility there is no argument ...LBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09
