I really hate myself sometimes

Background:
I currently owe £3k on my credit card which I am gradually paying off. I've nto told my fiance how much I owe as I finally feel I have it under control and do see it as my problem - plus I am hugely embarrased by it all to be honest. My oh is good with money and generous to boot and I know he will be so disapointed.

My main problem is my wedding fund. We are getting married this summer and both have wedding savings. The problem is he thinks I have £5k in there, when in fact I have £3.5. I am so very angery with myself for being so crap, so selfish and so greedy. He has been so bloody brilliant at saving and I'm so appalling, I just want to slap myself but that wont put money in my savings!!

I'm working at home tomorrow, so I'm going to use some of the time to think of my plan of action...maybe I need to put off getting a second job and actually pull my finger out and get one.

Aaarrrrggghhh!! I hate myself for being so crap!

how much are you spending on your wedding? Do you (personally) need £5K ?

On the plus side I'm sure that your hubby to be would rather you cut back on your wedding and had your debt under control than the other way round....so don't beat yourself up too much!

Don't beat yourself up. You have managed to save a hefty sum.

You seem to have a plan but perhaps you need to come clean so that the OH is there to support you and get on your case if you appear to be slipping and spending on the credit card.

You aren't crap. Chin up chicken

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

Stop giving yourself a hard time. What's done is done...no mileage in flaying yourself with a big stick. :)

Do what you can to salvage the situation. Save what you can from now until the day and talk to your OH to be. He's marrying you for goodness sake, he's hardly likely to be put off cos you haven't saved as much as him or you have debt.

Big breath and head down. Try to be determined and not feel down. Feeling down will only make things worse, positive mental attitude and all that.

Loads of good tips on this site for saving in various areas. Visit old style for ideas to cut down on food shopping, check out the money boards for ideas on coping with your debt or cutting down the interest.

Maybe putting things down on paper would help you talk to your OH? It's not the end of the world...it's just a hiccup in your life and it WILL pass.

    Good luck.

    Some good advice from 'mountainofdebt'.

Might be worth looking at some 'extreme' money saving!

Would help to know what you have been spending your money on and from there you can get advice from everyone that reads this thread to save.

    First thoughts from me:
Don't buy magazines or newspapers - you can get it all free online
Don't buy Tea or Coffee at work or the journey to work
Make your own packed lunches - cheap and normally taste much better
Speak to your credit card company and see if they will freeze your interest
See if you can claim back your credit card & bank charges (search for it on here)
What have you got you can sell on ebay - if you've not used it for 6 months, it's probably not gonna get used - so sell it!

Have a look at every bit of money going out to see where you can really cut down, it is true, look after the pennies and the pounds lokk after themselves!
Treat others as you would like to be treated :A
