Part of my prize has gone missing :(

Last week I had a phone call to say that I had won the daily mail wish list. :) The lady told me that she had some of my prizes and would send them straight away then send the rest when they arrived. By this Thurs I hadn't heard anything but she rung me to confirm the clothing sizes. I asked where my first lot of prizes were and she said they were sent the week before. She checked with the post room and they were sent and arrived (apparantly) at my home on 2/6/09 @ 12:46 and were signed for. Very well and good apart from the fact both me and my OH work 9-5 and werent in  and there's no one else there to sign. I asked my neighbours in case they took it in (although they are very good at passing on parcels) and none had seen it. The lady sent me the POD and the signature is just an X which looks extremely dodgy. I have been left to sort it out and the postal company DPD are conducting an investigation. Don't think ill see my prizes though :(

Sorry to moan on but I need to get the winge out of my system. I cant believe the cheek of people. I asked which prizes were sent and it was a clutch back (£65), Absolute vodka selfridges special edition (£40) and a peroni cougule (£200!) so £300 worth of prizes :mad:

Don't know what to do it the postal company turn round and say well theres nothing they can do as it was signed for. and the competition company have said that they have fulfilled their legal obligation by sending it out.

  • oh no, I really hope you manage to find your prizes and that the delivery company helps as much as they can.

The women at the Daily Mail is really good. They need to take up with DPD as they have the contract with DPD. It may take a while but I am sure it will be sorted. It will need an insurance claim against DPD

What a shame. Didn't realise you could sign for something using an x:rolleyes:. How rubbish.

If you need a hand trying to get something done the info is here, I've copied it from VG's comping guide for you.

7 What happens if my prize doesn’t turn up?
This is going to be individual to each comp. Usually it will state in the T & C for each comp how long it should take for the prizes to be dispatched to winners. As a general rule though or in the absence of any particular details in the T & C, allow 28 days, (allow more if we are experiencing postal strikes or extreme weather conditions). If the prize hasn't arrived by then, get in touch with the company offering the prize. Try to contact the person whose details you have & ask politely if there is a problem with delivery. A telephone call is the best way, but failing that try emailing them. If they don't reply, look on the original website for contact details & contact them, again being as polite as you can.

If you still get no response from them, there are a few different things you can try.

The Institute of Sales Promotions complaints@isp.org.uk lay down the guidelines which comp organisors must follow. MSE Compers have reported that they are very good at investigating dodgy comps & missing prizes with one chap in particular Edwin Mutton, being an absolute star.

The Advertising Standards Authority have an online complaints form.

I had an issue with a prize not turning up & after chasing politely for 5 months, I mentioned that I had been advised to talk to the Institute of Sales Promotions about the matter. Funnily enough that resulted in a letter of apology within a few days, along with a box of ‘Apology Goodies’ & my prize turned up 2 weeks later. Just remember to keep your cool & remain polite.

HTH and hope you get your goodies or at least a replacement :)

Don't worry I'm sure it will all work out.. Is it possible that the driver naughtily signed it & left it somewhere... then someones seen it & taken it...

Don't worry though, they will probably put a claim in & hopefully you will get some kind of compensation. Might take a while to all go throough though.

What a nightmare you must be gutted, fingers crossed for you.
Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

I am not suprised you are 'moaning'- I think I would be complaining a lot more! That is terrible! I have got all my fingers and toes crossed that they will turn up!

How terrible, I didn't know you could sign with an X either. These days parcel deliveries and drivers can be tracked pretty accurately, so good luck and hope you get your prize eventually, or get some sort of compensation.
