My ethical purchasing methods start in my pocket. If the price aint right, I do not buy. hence, this ecover thing never gets a look in, its price is too high0

this has been really interesting. I thought Ecover were a really ethical company and now you've made me think again about what I'm spending my money on and who I can voting for.
Hmmm, it's not easy being green. I use bicarb and vinegar a lot, but for the washing machine I always use ecover
One person mentioned Bio D - what does everyone else use? Soapnuts are no good in my hard water and I still use biological because my dd is so messy; her clothes are filthy every day0 -
We use Clearspring which is a brand of Faith In Nature. You can read all about their values at faithinnature.co.uk but essentially they are a small British company rather than a large multinational that tries to get into all the supermarkets. They started with ethical objectives and by being a small independent company they haven't had to dilute them.
We find their products smell better than Bio D (that's just down to personal preference) and work as well as any others. By buying the 5L containers direct it helps to keep the price down, especially as on their newsletter they sometimes do special offers.
Not sure how competitive the price is but considering an order lasts us for months and months it really can't be more than a few pennies a wash more than any of the multinational offerings...certainly not enough to be bothered about.0
