That's not actually a pyramid scheme. A pyramid scheme is when you refer more than one person (think about the shape of a pyramid stacked with 1 person, 2 people, 4 people, 8 people... now think about a stack of 1 person, 1 person, 1 person - not a pyramid shape is it?) and that's why they are so bad, because the number of people required to enter the scheme grows exponentially until it's impossible to find that number of people.
