Hi all,
Just some information on the Kew Premier Inn - useful if you are going there as you can probably save on both breakfast and parking!
Premier Inn London Kew
52 High Street
Brentford
Middlesex
England
TW8 0BB
Parking:
The website's statement is:
http://www.premierinn.com/pti/hotelFacilities.do?hotelId=24111&iscsell=
Car Parking
Limited pay parking available at a cost of £7.50 for 24hrs. Height restriction 2 meters.
First of all, parking is limited and if you don't get a space it will cost as follows:
Charges At Car Park (without Premier Inn discount)
0-1/2hr £0.70
1/2-1hr £1.40
1-2hrs £2.80
2-3hrs £4.20
3-4hrs £5.60
4-5hrs £7.00
24 hrs £15
9am-6pm - £10
6pm-9am - £10

*** Note: Parking is £7.50 up until 12 noon the next day (contrary to what they say on their website). You cannot arrive at 8pm the previous night and expect your ticket to last until 8pm the day afterwards. ***
This makes the Premier Inn car park a bit expensive as you might have to pay for 2 days.
However, you can park opposite the Premier Inn:
Car Park OPPOSITE Premier Inn Kew
0-1hr Free
0-2hrs 30p
0-3hrs 60p
Monday-Saturday 8am-6pm
Sundays/Bank Holidays - Free

This car park is literally opposite. The funny thing is that it is possibly easier and faster getting your luggage from this car park than getting it from the underground Premier Inn car park. The Premier Inn car park requires you to drag your luggage up the stairs to ground level or use the disabled lift which takes a loooooong time. Once on ground level, you use another set of lifts to get to your room, so its a pain!

Note that on Bank Holidays and Sundays the car park is free. So if you arrive after 6pm on a Saturday night, then it will be free until Monday 8am. The trick is to park in the car park opposite until 8am the next day and pay for parking in the Premier Inn the next day (unless you want to drive off anyway - but parking is expensive in London). If you arrive early the day before, its only 60p for up to 3 hours.
There is a small corner shop that sells milk and chilled drinks until 10:45pm each night.
Breakfast as stated on their website:
"Breakfast
Full and lighter breakfasts are available at this hotel as part of the breakfast buffet for only £7.95."
Breakfast at Premier Inn is quite good, but £7.95 can be a bit pricey especially if you don't want to stuff yourself in the morning. There is a McDonalds about a minutes walk away. Cheaper to get a breakfast there.
Closest Underground station: Kew Gardens.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kew_Gardens_station_(London)
If you open up Google Maps and type in 'Kew Gardens Railway Station' its the one closest to the Kew Gardens Underground symbol and Lichfield Road. Click on it and Get Direction and enter the Premier Inn post code (TW8 0BB).
This should give you the route if you were to walk it (35 minutes).
Alternatively, you can catch the 65 bus:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/pdf/kewgardens-2422.pdf
It's about 7 stops (5 minutes).
Note: If you catch the bus, it will go straight down the Kew Road (as opposed to going down Kew Garden Road if you were walking).
The bus can be caught outside of McDonalds and its a 24 hour service. Comes every 7-8 minutes at peak time, 10-12 minutes non-peak and every 30 minutes after midnight when its dead.
I don't know exactly how much it is as we just swiped our Oyster cards (I think that its about £1).
Going there: (Note The Travelodge on your left after you get on the bus). The bus will get to the roundabout where the Kew Bridge Railway Station is (you'll pass the Steam Museum on your left). It will then go down the Kew Road (going over the Kew Bridge). The Kew Road bends to the right and there is a stop straight after the bend. It will then continue onto the next stop which will take you outside Lichfield Road (its called Victoria where the Kew Botanic Gardens entrace is).
Coming back: Catch the bus outside of the Kew Gardens entrace (which is opposite where you got dropped off). Wait until the bus turns on the roundabout onto the Kew Bridge Road and watch until you pass the Travelodge on your right which will be just before the McDonalds. If you don't time it right, not to worry. The bus will take a right turn after the McDonalds up the Ealing Road and you can get dropped off immediately after it turns.
The underground station sits on the District Line (green):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_Line
Note: Coming back, you need to take trains going to Richmond as there are several branches on the track.
Also, don't be too concerned if the electronic signs that show the up and coming trains look pretty empty. Whilst they're very good on the Northern Line, they're pretty rubbish on the District Line, which can only predict the trains one at a time and sometimes only as it arrives!!!
There is a Tesco's Express at Kew Gardens Station. To London, stay on this side of the platform. Returning from London, when you exit, you need to go through the underground passage to get back to this side of the platform (the other side leads to more shops).
So hopefully with the above, you can save a bit on your parking and on breakfast and possibly save some walking at the cost of a bus ride.

Just wanted to say that we stayed in the Warrington North Premier Inn and it was great. There was a fan in the room already, the beds were comfy and the staff were fantastic! My friend has to drink lactose free milk and the staff were happy to keep it in their fridge and no problem popping down to get more several times in the evening. Would happily stay there again.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Totally forgot to say something about the hotel in my haste to post as much info as possible for others taking up the offer there! :rotfl:
We chose the Kew Hotel because it was one of the 2 listed London-based hotels on the £29 offer at the time (the other being Docklands).
The Kew Hotel seems to be fairly newly built and so everything inside our room was new from the kettle to the sheets to the bathroom stuff. All very good.
The service and everything was very good.
There were a couple of things that were a bit odd though.
From the car park to the hotel, the passageway is very very cold. We would assume this in winter, but it was warm when we went (last weekend).
However, the lifts and our rooms on the 4th floor were really really hot. We couldn't quite make it out as it never seemed to reach that hot outside.
Didn't matter too much as the hotel provided air conditioning that you could set - we kept ours on all the time and put our milk that we bought on top to keep it chilled over night!
Also, some more information.......
At the Kew Gardens station:
1) There is a Tescos Express outside so if like us you like to pick up milk/orange juice before returning to your hotel then you can do so.
2) Stay this side (platform) to go to London. Go underground through the passage way to the other side of the platform to go to Richmond. You don't need to go there, but when you come back, that's the side you get off at!
Also, where you can park your car opposite the Premier Inn, you can also go to the local shops there. One is a corner shop selling milk, orange juice and whatever snacks you want.
I quite like this Premier Inn. I'm one of those that likes lots of cuppas and therefore needs lots of milk. I also like my Sausage & Egg McMuffins in the morning and so a McDonalds nearby is great!
