Are you absolutely sure you want an IVA? That you know exactly what's involved? And are you aware that Shaws will want a fee for arranging this, probably more than £5,000? That's money you could use against your debts instead.
No experience of Shaws, but IVA's require very careful thought.
have a look here for information

Mrs Flossy be very very certain that an IVA is best for your circumstances.
We did one nearly 6 years ago, thinking we were doing the right thing, and all we've got is 6 years of penny pinching and misery. :'(taking your accounts to someone else who asks do you really need to spend £50 on shopping a week, or so on.
I got pregnant and had so many problems renegoitiating the payments. We finally paid it off in Sept 2003 after re-mortgaging at a horrendous rate (8.7%) because your credit rating will show bankrupt not IVA, as its all insolvency.
We have still to receive our cetifiate of completion, because HFC CC did not cash their cheque- they were the buggers who caused us to get the IVA in the first place!!! >:(
If its what you need to do, then so be it, but explore the options first.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

Mrs Flossy
I work for a firm of Insolvency Practitioners (IPs). I'm not going to pass comment on another firm of IPs but you need to be very sure that an IVA is the right thing.
Other posts are right the costs can be horrendous. Although each IVA is different they are generally suited to professional people with a high capacity to earn and where bankruptcy would mean they would be unable to carry on working becuase their licencing body takes away their practicing certificate when they are made bankrupt i.e. accountant, solicitor.
If you want to e-mail me I can phone you tomorrow.

Thank you for your concern, we have had advice from CCCS and payplan they think an IVA is the solution to our debt. Finding out about IVA has almost become an obsession for me I have read all I could find on internet about the procedure and I have read lots of postings of people who are doing them some good some sad and I have no doubt in my mind these coming years will be the true test of our marriage. I just wanted to know if we are in safe hands and if people who have done IVA with them have been satisfied with the service. We are very worried about what will happen if IVA fails. We have been told DMP will take too long to pay what we owe, I dont think we will live that long for a start!! Going bankrupt, well to loose our home and start again from scratch no no no I dont want to do that
