The Lightbulb has landed!!!!!!

:T Big Day today...

I finally plucked up the courage to call CCCS and sort things out especially as this is long overdue.

Well here we go...

Housing Benefit Overpayment £3174
Council Tax Benefit Overpayment £846
CSN £952
Catalogue £362
Family £1500
HFC Bank £2000 approx
Hsbc £1754
Barclays OD £660
Wescot £127
Electric £152
Council Tax £131
Credit Card £250

Total £11908

I think that is just about everything and I know it maybe doesn't seem like a lot when we don't have a mortgage or anything else but obviously paying these off and trying to keep afloat is really hard.

Especially when I am having to try and scrape £310 together before friday for a bailliff and it's my son's birthday next week and i still have to pay for his party.

Anyway Called CCCS and have appt for next friday, what should I expect, I was told to contact some creditors who wouldn't recive their latest payments and let them know what was going on which I have done.

BTW My husband is the only person working (I am full time mum who suffers with clinical depression) and we recieve CTC and WTC and CB and HB.

Any advice would be greatly recieved

Thanx in advance

Firstly I'd like to say a really big well done!!!

It's really hard to face up to the extent of things sometimes, and really being honest with yourself takes a lot of courage.

Best of luck for your appointment, my advice would be to write a template letter which you can send to everyone you owe money to, to explain the situation, whether they're overdue or not.Keeping them informed is the best way to keep the relationship working, that way they're more willing to help you out.

Besides the more they help the more chance they have of retrieving some money as opposed to if you just declared yourself bankrupt.

How old is your son by the way?I was just trying to think of some things we could suggest to keep that light hearted and fun for him without you having to spend too much money?

Maybe call your electric company and see if you can have a meter fitted, whereby you pay for electricity you use as well as paying off the debt concurrently? This may work out more expensive, I'm not sure.

How much money do you have coming in each month?I'm not being nosey but generally people on this site are really good at helping each other out if they have what's termed a SOA, statement of affairs. Outlining what your income and expenditures are. That way people can suggests specific ways you can save some money to pay off debts.

Don't be hard on yourself for the situation you've found yourself in, it happens to people from all walks of life. Applaud yourself for standing up and facing it all.Thats more than a lot of people have achieved and you deserve a big congratulations for the first step!

hi there, I am not DFW genius like some people on here but food toiletries nappies etc seems loads at £450 per month. I have not cut back too much compared to some but for 2 adults and 1 baby on formula spend £170 on food and formula and £13.00 per month on nappies. Have a look on the old style board for ideas on how to eat and clean more cheaply. I only buy tesco nappies now and find them much cheaper and just as good. I do one tesco shop per month for around £50 and then £20-40 per wk at Lidl depending on whether I have to buy washing powder, loo roll etc.

Also, there is no phone bill or mobile rental on there.....
