shall we see if we can do anything about this, is it best to start local?
  • These letters are horrible.

I think it is sound advice to anyone to think twice if you have to buy something to get the prize however.

Initially, I tried the DTI to warn them of the scam, but got fed up with being fobbed off by bored civil servants.

I could have a go with Lambeth Trading Standards since I am a resident and see if I get the same kind of thing. I will need someone to post me a copy of the letter, as I said earlier.

I received the letter today. What made me suspicious, promoting me to check it out on the internet, is that Amante Art is based in Canada and it is a 0800 number which I thought was freephone for the UK, I may be wrong but am sure TOLL-FREE for Canada is 1-800.

Thank you for your tip any how saved me a lot of time and patience,

    Melanie

I found them on the web, very sparse site with one picture, hah, of the Mona Lisa. There is an email address though, don't know what to do with it???

    what does anyone suggest??
  • I have just received the letter - glad I checked the company out first.

hrafndot the address on the "letterhead" (some letterhead, my grandson could do better !) is slightly different, that had alarm bells ringing for me!

A local radio station to me says just to throw stuff like this away, they never suggest anyone to send them to for investigation, so I doubt there is anyone out there who would investigate them.

  • Following a Google check on Amante Art, I found my way here, so thanks for the info! Another tip may be that the spelling and grammar in the letter are apaling (!), so I'm not even tempted to try the phone call. Cheers all & thanks for having me on board...
