    Thanks for your answers. I guess I know this will happen. It's just really weird that people are not putting their money away for when it rains? Yet, everyone is still spending.

    I don't understand.

    For the last 10 - 20 years (+/-), most of a generation has not valued the principle of 'putting away for a rainy day.' Easy credit has been thrown at us left, right and centre and it has been the norm to have what we want, when we want it. It's become our way of life.

    Putting by, saving, mending, making do ... all totally old fashioned concepts.

    That's not going to change overnight. Labour's still trying to prevent us from having to face up to the reality. They certainly don't want it to register before the general election.

    So, thriftiness ain't gonna just happen; not unless or until we're pushed into the tightest corner, from which there's absolutely no way out!
