With the continuing rationalisation at Somerfield they appear to have some good deals. Please bear in mind that I have not yet tasted any of these but I bought a selection of reds today (there are whites too) and the wine manager was begging me to help clear his stock.
All these wines are currently £3.99
Zontes Foostep Cab Sauv (South Eastern Australia) original price £7.99
Cont Serristori Chianti Classico DOCG (Italy) £7.99
Mount Augustin Cab Sauv/Shiraz (Western Australia) £9.99
There are quite a few more bit I homed in on the biggest reductions.

The Zontes Footstep Cabernet Sauvignon is mentioned here at £4.49 a bottle, but they say at that price it offered good VFM, so £3.99 is even better (assuming yours is 2004 too)

http://www.quaffersoffers.co.uk/col200407.htmThe only nasty one was Conti Serristori from Somerfield. Peter said it was "a tougher wine altogether" and we got no further than that. It offered nothing. Thanks to all who post constructively.

Last weekend, we enjoyed a couple of red wines now on offer at Somerfields:-
Jacob's Creek Merlot 2004 £4.49 down from £5.99
Rutherglen Estates Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2004 £3.99 down from £6.99
If anything, we preferred the Rutherglen Estates wine, but both were good value, and were not disappointing like so many offer wines we have tried in the past (like the Conti Serristori mentioned above)!People are more important than things0 -

I was impressed with the port they had - not bad quality seeing it only cost £2.49 a bottle. Didnt find anymore after I cleared the shelves of it at this price.Veteran Bargain Hunter -
