White shirt, no longer white!

Hi

I have a white shirt which i need to wear for an interview next week, but it is no longer white.

I have no washing powder as went on to eco balls about a month ago.

I do have bicarb, vinegar ,bleech and soda crystals.

Do not realy want to have to buy a new one.

Thanks

What material is made of. You can bleach it only if its 100% cotton.

I tried eco balls last year and while they are okay for coloured and dark stuff they did exactly the same to my white underwear, pillowcases etc over quite a short period of time. I ended up replacing them.

If its an interview i would suggest you buy a nice fresh crisp on to be honest.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Be careful if you decide to bleach it, sometimes the stitching is made of different stuff to the fabric IYKWIM and dosen`t always bleach the same colour. I did this with a cotton top and ended up dying it darker to try and save it but the bloomin stitching didn`t take the dye well either.

Try rinsing it through, and spinning or wringing it out and hanging on the line outside in the sun.

    Try soaking it in Biotex
  • ...or try soaking in Oxiclean mix...

I'd be tempted to use a teaspoon of bleach in the washer, with your normal detergent.

    Hi

I've used Dylon 'Power Whitener' (I tried to post a link but the system won't let me) to get some dingy towels back to white again. I think it cost about £1.50 for a pack of four sachets from a supermarket. It worked well on cotton towels but you might want to check that it's suitable for your fabric. Hope you can save your shirt.

For an interview its worth splashing out on Persil washing powder and leave the shirt in the sunshine to bleech it naturally.

I have a lot of hankies which seem to have gone greyish.. well not as white as they could be. Have used oxy white but doesnt seem to have made much difference. Can anyone suggest something that really does get your whites white?

Try buying a box of Glo White. I buy this from my local Sainsburys and Tescos. Glo White kept my son's school shirts brilliant white for many years.

I pre-soak my white shirts in diluted Stardrops, before a normal wash.
