Digital Camera Repairs

Hello
Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a digital camera repaired - I have a Fuji Finepix S5700 and the LCD screen has stopped working although the camera itself still seems to work fine but I cannot see what pictures I am taking which is a bit of a problem.
Thanks

  • I was in Lizars in Belfast a couple of weeks ago there was a lady in with the same problem. They said it was £40 to send it away to have it looked at before repair was made, no guarantee it was fixable and that it was probably best to buy a new one.. Could have been because they sell cameras that they advised this! They did mention putting through household insurance if it had had a drop..
  • Hello

Anyone else got any suggestions or advice on this one please?

    thanks

Have you done a search on the net ? If not, I have done one on your behalf. This looks like it may help:

There are probably lots of other camera forums that would be able to help more.

This happened to a Canon of mine. Turns out it was a bad batch of CCDs and it was fixed free of charge (even though I'd had it 4 years). I've found 1 or 2 similar reports of LCD failure on the net with your camera, but not many and no reports of recalls. Does it play back images ok? If so, then it might be a CCD problem, if not then it's likely to be the LCD.

No idea what this crowd is like but worth a look at the website and their FAQs:

  • Hi there

Thanks for the replys - the camera seems to work fine in terms of taking pictures but the lcd screen remains completely blank and you cannot even press the button to switch to the traditional type viewfinder and use that.

I will contact some of the suggestions above and see how I go.

    Thanks
  • I had a cracked LCD Display replaced by this guy (John Machlin)john@pjcamerarepairs.co.uk

Was by far the cheapest I could find and did a great job. Couldn't find anyone in N.Ireland to do it. As posted before, they all wanted a fee to send it away to have it looked at before any work was even done. May be worth giving him an e-mail to see what you think. Worth noting too, when it comes to displays, if it's an old camera it may be cheaper to buy a new one (Obviously depending on how good it is as my replacement screen cost £70)
