I know theres been other factors to deal with but has your son tried to find a job, you say he has no other experience of any other work but theres jobs like supermarkets, maybe warehouse work where you dont need experience just common sense,

what ive said re jobs is only a suggestion, im sure theres other jobs that dont require experience,

Hi, yes he is trying to get work, has sent job applications etc but as yet no luck. He desperately wants to work and even if he does secure one it won't pay very well so will still struggle to repay his debts. Whatever happens he will have to consider DMP, BR because he won't be able to pay minimum debt repayments on a low wage unless of course we (his parents) continue to fund his debts which we are finding increasingly difficult.

Did you inform the creditoras that you sent the £1 payment to that he was awaiting an interview with CCCS?

I wouldn't worry about the SOA either way. If you mentioned the CCCS was going to advise him, they will probably await a while (not sure CCCS will be able to assist directly with a DMP as they usually require a minimum of £100 to pay creditors). If they want a SOA, they'll soon let you know about it.

Do you know when his debts were taken out - pre April 2007?
After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

    Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
    Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0

    Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/2011

Quoted CCCS reference with letters to creditors. 2 x credit card, 2 x personal loans taken out pre 2007. Overdraft accrued over the last year

    ?

If it mean avoiding bankruptcy I would be able to help him out with a monthly payment if need be. However I would rather give him a lump sum to instigate full/final settlements.

    Hi

You will have a better idea when those CCAs come back, Furthermore, you have already met 10past6 and if they creditor issue default notices, there is a decent chance that some will be incorrect (10past6 will tell).

I suggest you get your son to come on here in his own right and people can help him out. After all, if he is going to defend any legal action, he will be better involved from the start, as it will be easier to understand.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Has received a reply re EGG re CCA request. They want proof if identity, signature and a copy of recent utility bill. Is this normal and should he send it?

All creditors have cashed the token payment cheques. He has had a letter from Nationwide (personal loan). They are not happy that he has cancelled direct debit and have advised him to reinstate immediately. They have made no mention of the token payment or confirmed agreement.

He has received a call from Barclaycard asking for further token payment but he has told them he has an interveiw with CCCS next month and they seemed to accept that.

Please don't send that info to Egg, they can use it to forge documents.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest you don't help him financially. I was fuming when my dad refused to help me, when he had the cash sitting there. But I've realised that it was for the best. If he'd bailed me out I probably wouldn't have learnt my lesson and would have run it up again when I could. It's so easy to do, and so hard to learn the lessons from. I know that times are tough for him, but things can be sorted out without you using your savings. Things are tough for you too. Is he living with you? Letting him live with you with low outgoings seems to be a great help as it is.

There are options other than br. I've been making token payments for 3 years now because I'm on benefits (disabled) and can't afford more. His situation is so much better because there is hope of him getting a job, even if it is in the future. The banks can't have what he hasn't got, so they'll just have to wait until he's in a position to pay.

Sorry if I'm rambling, it's late and I'm about to go to bed!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

    Hi Ames

I fully understand your what you are saying and I know I should not be helping him out, but I just can't seem to help myself.

He is not living at home, he is renting from a housing association and has applied for HB & CTB so that should help.

Thanks for the advice about signatures. I think he will only be sending a utility bill for proof of id.

We are hoping he can do a DMP if he gets a job soon before his CCCS interview otherwise there will no monies left over from income/expenses for him to do so, so not sure what other options are available other than BR which he really does not want to do. I can't see creditors agreeing to token payments in the long term
