Well that's what one part of me is saying. I could do the same thing (he would probaby be ok with it - seeing that he's also doing it!) and would still also do a good job.

On the other hand as some others on here are saying it would be gross misconduct/stealing company time. Which is why I asked the question in the first place:confused:

You originally wrote that "His manager is aware of it though and I believe is ok." The people who are telling you it would be a sackable offence if you did it believe you intend to just walk out early and not ask anyone if that is OK

Perhaps behaving like your boss means asking if you can do it.

Original post says he is a senior manager.

Original post said he was a senior project manager. But that doesn't change the thrust of my post - that he has a manager himself and can't just carry on as though he is a god not needing permission to take time out of the regular working day.

He obviously isn't carrying on as if he is a god - if he has his manager's permission then he has obviously come to an arrangement.

My point is, the OP is asking if he can just do what his boss does. The advice is that if his boss' boss has okayed it then that is no reason for the OP to just do the same.

The OP didn't really have to start a thread asking this, he could just have gone through the process of asking his manager for the same arrangement, and giving options so that he can still get his job done. The OP seems to be saying that if his boss can do it, then so can the OP and the query is would he be wrong to just copy him....which of course is completely wrong, it doesn't work like that.

I don't know. A man has some childcare responsibility and the women don't like it because it is encrouching on their domain. If women want to go to work, then they have to accept that men have to do some childcaring!
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Yes, so the OP [male] needs to ask his manager [male] if this is do-able - and to go through the correct routes to avoid any disciplinary action being taken by just sloping off early every now and then.

Not sure if you are agreeing with me or challenging me. I wasn't suggesting that the original manager was acting as a god but that he couldn't do that. And, yes, I agree with you on this one.

if you leave early, how will your work get done?

if you have a good answer to this question, that does not eliminate legally entitled breaks, then stick in a flexible working request and stop !!!!!ing about people whose situation you are not clear on.
