Problems with banks

I have had a lot of problems of having to chase up banks for payments not being made to people, the banks owing me money, wrong transactions etc , banks saying they are going to transfer money they owe into another current account then after checking this this is not done and another letter has to be written and chased up .
Question:can one charge PA time to sort all of this out. Has anyone done this . Sometimes i spend full days just doing banking stuff that does not bring any money but just costs. if no one charges for this. Isnt it about time that we do charge them?
any help appreciated! I just find it incredible that council tax and other things increase but people's precious time is not valued in any way.

Please be more specific.
A general rant is good for letting off steam but very little else.
You say'chase up banks for payments not being made to people' - how? cheque, Standing order, Direct debit, Telephone banking, Internet Banking??
How do the banks owe you money? Do you or have you done work for them?
How many accounts do you hold and with how many banks?
Are you a personal or Business customer?0 -

i juggle with different banks according to some of the tips that martin has
mentioend on the site.
i stopped using one credit card - with Halifax for example. i told them
that i was getting debited constantly by a company that i had cancelled with
. they said they would no longer debit me and would credit me some of the
money back.
on the next statement it appeared again! and when i checked whether the
money had been transferred to my current account this had not been done. so
I had to write another letter in addition to call I made. Finally after 2 or
3 letters (all filed woudl need to dig them out) they sent me out a
cheque!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Abbey bank:
They used to automatically send me a new cheque book but agian this month I
did not receive anything. i called them up to ask for one and they said no
problem. 3 days letter i get a letter to check that I have not had someone
fraudulently using my cheques as a number of them had not been used up (ok
so this is positive side to them but could they not tell me on the phone at
the time - their IT is obviously not up to date or something). now i have to
call back again.
Nationwide credit card - I asked them to send me a form to set up a standign
order as I cannot do this from my bank end for credit card payment (oh I
told them on teh phone too). to this day still nothing . just a menacing
letter saying they had not received any payment so far . oh and I forgot to
add a letter to say that they had acknowledge that i was not takign the
payment protection (i probably told the bank back in January/ december 05
when i took this out so delay on this front to get a letter!!!!!!!!!).
i could carry on.....
it is driving me round the bend. eventually i only want to hold one account
and if possible one credit card at a time! i just wonder whether I am the
only one!0 -

>>>>>>>>>Believe it or not this is not Halifax's fault! If you have given a Continuous Authority for a company to debit your credit card then it is that company you should be contacting about this. The Halifax have done you a favour by doing a clawback for you.

>>>>>>>>>>> Why cannot your bank set up a standing order ifo Nationwide? ( Or do you mean direct debit whereby they debit your bank account with either minimum or full payment every month). It is still your responsibility to ensure that at least the minimum payment is made on time and check that either the s/o or d/d has been set up correctly.
Your final point about having just one credit card and one bank account to worry about makes a lot of sense to me.0 -
Do you do online banking, if you set up this service you would be in control of transferring money, ordering cheque books etc.0
