Summer long lettuce for £1

Lidl sell a tray of living salad in the veg section for 99p.

Homebase give away their plastic plant pot trays ( 6" has 6 pots per tray)
you can take as many as you like.

Divide the Lidl lettuce into 6 - 8 plants and replant into the tray or seperate pots.

Water daily if no rain and in 10 days you can start picking leaves, the plants continue to grow for ages.

Lidl also do Oriental salad leaves do the same with these and have a green leaf salad.

If you want to take it a stage further grow from seed Wilkinsons spicy salad leaves.

Pick your leaves carefully leaving the roots and you will have salad leaves for ages.

I bought some seeds from lidl for about 35p a month or 2 ago. They grow quickly and I've not needed to buy lettuce for ages.
