Focus windows opening by themselves??
I know this sounds weird, but I found my car with all 4 (electric) windows wide open yesterday, after having left it in supermarket carpark for 30 min.
I know I didn't leave them open, had the aircon on, my passenger is also absolutely sure about this.
Nothing taken from the car. Radio and clock still working, so no interruption to power supply (wouldn't make sense that that would open windows anyway).
You have to press 4 buttons to open 4 windows, I can press 2 at once but not 4, impossible to have done it accidentally.
Completely baffled.
Any ideas what might have happened?

not sure on the focus, but on the SMax you can drop all 4 windows by holding the unlock for 3 seconds. Did you "unlock" the car before you got to it? The windows might have dropped then.0

does it have a "total closure" system? IE, you lock the door and the windows go up? If so..might be that playing silly.0

Mine used to do this and it baffled me until I saw my 2 year old messing with the keys and holding down the buttons to make the windows go down.I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.0

Most stuff these days has the global opening feature.
However, it could be a duff door switch. Used to be quite common on older VW stuff.0 -

I just tried this, and yes, holding the unlock for quite a while did it. And reversly holding lock closed them again. Must have done this walking back to the car but put the shopping in the boot before I walked round and noticed the windows.
Glad to know nobody had interfered with the car.
Thank you all for prompt replies..:beer:0 -

hi,
after reading this .. a new topic for my reaserch has dawned upon me.. thaks u for such posts0 -
This used to happen to a friend of mine every few weeks. His Mondeo inexpliquely unlocked all it's doors and opened all it's windows. Th e1st time it happened he too thought that he must have done it himself but after another couple of occasions he took it to the garage where it cost quite a bit to get fixed.
Maybe Mondeos and Focus have the same central locking system in which case this might be a common known fault. I don't know what work was carried out but it sounded like something only a garage could do.0 -

What's your research about?0 -

You think it's a fault then, rather than me pressing the unlock for too long? It did seem a reasonable explanation. It hasn't happened again - yet!0
