  • Im currently considering HSBCs existing 5 year fix at 4.39% with a £999 fee - does anyone know whether this option will still be available from Monday?

    Thanks

According to an in branch advisor yesterday this deal is being removed on Monday to make way for their Rate Matcher deals.

The AIP means nothing you have to have started the application process to secure the fixed 5 year 4.39% rate. I've just done this today, apparently they will send the paperwork and I have a specific date to get the application back to them to keep this rate. The lady i spoke to on the phone also confirmed that this rate will be withdrawn tomorrow as they are bringing in new products.

I don't like two, three or five year fixed rates although five years is bordering sensible.

High fees and low rates are the mortgage lenders' attempt to give Southerners something to boast about at the dinner parties. "My rate is 2.49% fixed nnnnarrghh."

One simple way to make sure that you are comparing mortgages properly is to add the relevant fees to the mortgages and then looking at the monthly cost AND the sum outstanding when the deal ends.

If you have a choice, fix for ten years.

I've just missed out on the special fixed rate today, as the phone service is unable to deal with customers who have part or all of their mortgage as interest only

Will be waiting to see what the fee's look like for the new Rate matcher SVR deals tomorrow and then have to queue up in the branch! :(

We were due to go into branch on Friday just gone to sign the paperwork and pay the booking fee on the 2 year discounted rate. The appointmnet was cancelled as the advisor was off ill. I hope we haven't lost out on that deal.

So far I have not been able to fault HSBC. I used to dislike them like everyone else, So far they have been very fair with me. I recently managed to get a 10 year fixed rate at 4.98%. The set up fees were only £600.00 as well.
