Tax on allowance paid as income

Hi all,
i am about to receive an extra income of about £1000 PA. Although not a pay rise this is an allowance for carrying out work above my role.
I am assuming that for tax purposes it is just counted as extra income?

I assume you are an employee so your payroll dept will simply deduct tax as required.
Also check if your "acting up allowance" is considered to be pensionable pay as you might also find they deduct pension contributions from it0
