sorry, they're not on offer for longer but worth an extra few credits for you if you want to take it up.
I found the words, graves or baptisms were also useful when googling for information.
Up the genealogists! Addictive is an understatement - I need therapy!

https://www.rootschat/forum is really useful cos everyone with ancestry access does the searching for you
Now THATS a freebee!
I'm doing my tree also, in familytreemaker and genesreunited, you can down load and up load the files from both so you never have to copy it out twice, update one and then crossreference0 -
I can't get the roots chat forum to work. Any advice? Most recent wins: IPad, Jamie Magazine yearbook, Links of London friendship bracelet, Baumatic ice cream machine! :j0

I've tried freebies on the Ancestry site before and got in such a state trying to look everyone up in a short time (no sleep!!). This time I thought I'd give the UK membership a try for a year (about £70) and was pleasantly surprised at how much extra they have available to search since I last tried them 12 months ago.
It's true that a lot of BMD info can be found for free on the Internet, but what they are now excelling in is the census information. Actual scans of handwritten pages, searchable by name or you can browse an area or village page by page. They have 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 available (not sure if complete coverage on all yet though - I couldn't see the Isle of Man on one of them, can't remember which now).
Well worth the money, plus I can get some much needed sleep in betwee searching. I'm so impressed I'll probably even rejoin next year. I've found the whereabouts of complete families in my Family Tree through the whole range of censuses.0 -
easti - I've sent a reply to your PM - can you let me know if it was any help? Thanks.0

What's the offer?
The offer is for 30 days free membership of http://ancestry.co.uk/ by calling 0800 731 6679. While there is a free trial on the website, that lasts just 14 days. As ancestry.co.uk is a US-based site your details will be held on servers outside the UK. As the person who originally posted this has mentioned you need to give your credit card details.
How do I cancel?
Do make sure if you don't want to continue your subscription you cancel before the end of the trial by calling 0800 404 9723 or emailing cancel@ancestry.co.uk and giving the following details:
Given name and surname
Username
Subscription type (UK/Ireland collection, etc.)
E-mail address used when subscribing
Phone number including country code
Country
If you don't your subscription will start and you won't be entitled to a refund so leave plenty of time in which to do it.
