Yes start by not chasing a label.
These ones spec wise are similar to anymakes at half of the price of them being sonys. And on that site i suspect still has to add vat......
Check out dell tnl when they have a decent sale on , rock tnl (incl 3yr warranty) all the time and of course your high st !!!!!!(turpin)sons store group.0 -
Hi - THese people do not charge vat, but they ship it right from their warehouse in US. I think there will be problems with customs0

Never mind the VAT, they don't accept credit cards.
Direct Wire/Bank Transfer or Paypal or Money Bookers only.
The only one that you may get some protection from is paypal, especially if it is tied to your credit card account. I'm sorry but if you are selling something that is over a thousand pounds in value and you are a business you should accept credit cards. If not I want to know why not. Especially considering they have been in business since 1999. They have got mixed to poor reviews on dealtime

Have a look at the IBM R40E at E-buyer, great quality at around £500 delivered. http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=4204330686&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=51905
At the time of writing, they have 11 left.
I have bought one, and it has the legendary IBM thinkpad build quality, excellent screen and keyboard. Downsides, needs more memory (around £35 for another 256 Mb) and no floppy (but exterrnals are <£20 in PC World in the sale).
Worth a look IMHO.
