hi just had news from my broker that the coventry turned down my application for a buy to let mortgage on my property because it has a flat roof.
both my broker and i scoured the website and he scoured the paperwork and there is no caveat with regards flat roofs.
they have taken my application into consideration but still will not refund the 250 quid they charged me for the privilege of having the application turned down.
now if they had mentioned anywhere that they do not mortgage flat roofed properties , do they think that i would still apply?
im fuming!
any ideas, advice??

I am a long standing fan of the Coventry...............but I have to say that just recently they have been very poor.
Reading between the lines, I think they are snowed under with applications, can't cope, and are using any old excuse half the time to decline things, just to get rid of themI am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Don't rate your chances, but it's worth a go.
£250 to just look at a case and deline it really is money for old rope though
Make a big deal about there being no mention of their lending criteria regarding flat roofs , and mention Treating Customers Fairly a lot if you take it furtherI am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
