Hi

I am still battling to find an original contract and have now been told by Barclays Partner Finance they are unable to locate a copy of my agreement because the account was bought from another finance company CETELEM and I will have to contact them for the information I need.

Now I am even more confused as I have been told false information twice now. Barclays Partner Finance told me previously they had taken over from Clydesdale Financial Services and the debt was aquired on a purchase made at Currys electrical store. Well Currys tell me they have never dealt with either Clydesdale or BPF for such purchase loans only HFC (which we know to be correct as we have had several items from Currys with help from HFC.

Can anybody give me an address to write to for Cetelem please ?

Many thanks.

:)

Hi, sorry for not replying sooner but I've only just come across this info...

"Halifax Cetelem Credit Ltd was created in January 1999 with the objective of becoming a significant player in RETAILER FINANCE. It was a 50/50 joint venturecreated by Halifax & Cetelem. HBOS sold its shareholding in January 2004 and no longer owns any part of the company. If customers need to contact Halifax Cetelem directly they can write to :

    Halifax Cetelem Credit Ltd
    Friars House
    Manor House Drive
    COVENTRY
    CV1 2YZ"

Hope this might give you a starting point. Sorry that I haven't got a phone number for you to try.

If you have requested the agreement under CCA s77, then Barclays are obliged to provide a copy of the credit agreement whether they were the original creditor or not.

If they were daft enough to buy up these debts without getting the correct paperwork from the original finance company then that is their own stupid fault and their problem. ;)

They will obviously try to fob you off if they can't get it. They know that without the agreement they would be unable to legally enforce it.
