It seems strange to me that someone will pay into a pension, whether a personal pension or occupational pension, for many years without attempting to understand what they are likely to get out of it at retirement. It's your money and your pension.

The info given by Edinvestor seems very comprehensive and straightforwatd, so lets hope the OP follows that.

She may even get some thanks............................

Well to use the anology again, you watch your TV every night, but you don't really care how the picture gets there do you? All I knew was it was supposed to pay out a certain sum for a certain investment and the simple maths seemed good. Having asked for some advice about whether my simplistic view about taking it early is right or wrong all I seem to get is critiscm, and critiscm about not knowing the answer to the question I posed in the first place, dead helpful. You're another idiot who's popped in his five-penneth without reading the original start of this thread, or the bit where I gave up and left the country, sad in the knowledge that what a colleague of mine told me is true, 50% of the population has below average intelligence, they all seem to be creeping out of the wood-work and answering this topic.
See you. Where's the button that turns off notifications?

For what its worth, I have read the entire thread - twice. And that's because I couldn't believe what I was reading the first time round!

Most of the criticism in this thread has come from you, when you were asked for some more info to enable people to help you.

Oh well. If you think we are all idiots you won't be starting any more threads, so it's not all bad. The helpful posters on this forum can then spend their free time helping others who might even be thankful for help.

Oops! I forgot, you've given up and left the country.

Anyway, I for one will not be feeding the troll anymore.

I didn't do that earlier 'cos the first response to this thread was:

"I presume it's not a final salary scheme. What percentage do you lose for each year before your normal retirement date?"

Which was the question I was asking. Go check.

Only a final salary pension would lose a percentage each year for early retirement.

Anyway as with the others on this thread I've given up. I have tried to get you to see why further information was needed and you either can't or won't see the reasons.

Go back under the bridge from whence you came.
