The NHS

I had cause to call upon the emergency services a few days ago when my lovely wife collapsed with excruciating pains in her chest. I assumed the worst and dialed 999. Paramedics arrived four minutes later, and an ambulance shortly after followed by a trip to A & E.
It turned out not to be life threatening after all, but I cannot exagerate the most excellent treatment that my wife received. I am not given to panicking, but I came close that night. The efficiency and proficiency of all that attended my wife cannot be underestimated. I am truly grateful and do not begrudge a penny of the tax I have paid in 37 years of employment just for that one night.
The NHS is often knocked when something goes wrong, but it is only fair that it should receive praise for the things it does well.

On the 2 occasions we've has to take our 7 month old daughter to hospital the care was outstanding. She was also in NICU for 5 weeks due to being 8 weeks prem and the care there was second to none!
Hats off to the NHS!

Have, unfortunately, had to use the services of the NHS on a number of occasions for close family. ALL experiences have been of the most excellent and professional people in the business! Truly amazed by them!
Glad your wife ok fruitcake:beer:Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -
It might be best not to generalise: great service from the postie doesn't mean Royal Mail is brilliant; responsible conduct by an MP doesn't mean the House of Commons is flawless.
We have had experience of tremendously caring and thoughtful staff working in the NHS and in the emergency services.
We've also had experiences of brutish, ignorant insensitive incompetents.0 -
It's good to see some praise for the NHS. All we seem to hear about are the horrors and poor service people have received. I have always had good experiences when I've needed treatment (even the time with the bowling ball, which could have quite easily become a laughing matter for all those involved) and I feel we should be singing their praises more often...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I had a pleasant experience with the NHS a few years back after I broke my hand. They plastered my hand in no time and booked me in for an opperation a week later. Appart from having to be in the hospital for 5 hours wearing one of those backless hospital gowns, everything else was fine and everyone was quite friendly.0

Have had a lot of experience of the NHS through my little girl having a range of medical issues, bar a few niggles her care has been outstanding. Well done NHS:AThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
