You were right Ed, It is paid either weekly or monthly, apparently he opted for monthly which is fine because that is what we are used to and direct debits go out monthly so it is in fact easier.
Thanks again.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

You may find it isn't in fact any easier.
A 4-weekly month doesn't match up to a calendar month. You'll find there are 13 payments in the year rather than 12, and they don't always match the 'end-of-month' scenario that most of us are used to.
Why they do this, God knows. My GD works for a local authority, she too gets paid 4-weekly and finds the same difficulty.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

thanks MargaretClare, i thought about that last night but it wont matter too much. We are in the lucky postion that i work full time and get paid the last Friday of each month so the household DD's go out from my salary. I will probably be confused next year when this happens with my pension when i retire.
I suppose its a throwback from the 'olden' days when everyone got a pension weekly and bills were paid weekly, there wasnt any confusion then.
I remember my mum writing lists
ie Weekly Pension -
Weekly out
Rent
Coal
Elec (meter)
Gas (meter)
Insurance (collection at the door weekly)

I first started getting the 4-weekly payment back in 1992 when I was widowed, then went on to state retirement pension in 1995 when I became 60. The only choices then were: paid 4-weekly into a bank, paid weekly by pension book to be cashed at the post office. I didn't want the latter, so 4-weekly was the only choice. Since pension books were abolished a few years ago it became possible to be paid either 4-weekly or weekly into the bank. I didn't even know this until advised by the good folk on here.
I recently changed to weekly into the bank but DH still has 4-weekly into his bank. All our DDs go out from our joint account funded by both of us.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
