PS I probably would attack the bailiffs as I class them as scum.

Whilst I find myself agreeing with you on them being scum, I think I'll avoid getting in a scrap, wouldn't really help my situation ;)

As it was last year when they noted certain goods, thats their hard luck that it's not there anymore. Thats my opinion anyway

With the greatest of respect, you should be very careful about giving people advice that is going to cause them much more problems than doing nothing. It won't be the bailiff's hard luck if goods they have already seized are not present when they turn up to enforce a debt.

Hopefully Mr Bailiff who hasn't yet returned my call and isn't likely to tonight is reasonable and can see that I'm living by the skin of my teeth at the moment and that anything he takes is going to severely impact upon me :(

Well I hope so. Bailiffs are (believe it or not) like most people - some are more reasonable than others and some are smarter than others. Let's hope you speak to one who is both smart and reasonable. Have you spoke to Herbie yet?

I haven't yet, no. I don't want to be a pain in the bum to be honest :( I'll do that now!

d-day is here! or is that b-day? hehe :D

The thing I'm dreading more than anything is calling work to tell them I'm 'sick' or that there's a problem with the pipes in my flat or whatever excuse I have to concoct.

These people are doing a job. Thats it a job, they have families and children like the rest of us, they just happen to do a job that others wouldn't.

The old excuse, they are only doing their job. I don't think they had a gun put to their head saying you are going to be a Bailiff. They chose it, like members of the SS.

Ok, just got off the phone to him, he pretty much shot down my appeal and said that once it goes to him there's nothing he can do, he can either come and remove goods OR I pay the full amount, there's no haggling to be done.

I did ask him whether he could only take what was on the walking levy and he said yes, I then told him the car that was put on the levy was beyond repair come august last year and was sent to the scrapyard so that all that was left was my tv which wasn't worth even a fraction of the debt. That didn't even make him budge.

He's extended the collection date to Friday and I'm now panicking, I was so !!!! sure and confident that I could win him round, hadn't thought about what would happen if I couldn't :(

Is there anyone I can write to / phone to appeal? I know I muffed up the previous payment plan but I'd rather it didn't come to them removing goods (mostly because I know the value of my tv and it wouldn't cover the fees, let alone the debt... secondly because I'm unsure whether or not the car I own NOW could be taken in lieu of the car I DID own when they did the walking levy... and if it was, the value far outweighs the debt anyway!!!)

I've taken up his offer of extending to friday for now but not sure what good it's going to do me in the long run if I can't get the money together.

    Hiya,

Not much experience of this myself but found out last night that our outstanding council tax bill has gone to bailiffs so have been reading through the fact sheet from national debtline on council tax and bailiffs (would post link but can't). If you go onto the factsheets section of their website, you should find it there..

Not sure if it will help you right now but it does say that they can't take goods worth more than the debt itself so your car should, in theory, be safe....

If worst does come to worst, could you try and maybe get a tv off your local freecycle?

    Hope you get sorted :)

    xx

time to swallow your pride got to your parents and ask them. I think for this when it would not only leave you without the goods, but also would leave you unable to work, that they would pay up.

Once you have done that, THEN you can talk to payplan or CCCS about a debt management plan, to sort out your other debts. Because if you aren't paying them either, then this could be happening again in a few months time, and you DON'T want that happening at your partners place to do you.
