Basic Bank accounts

Have had a basic joint bank account for years now without being overdrawn have had past money problems but everything under control now, we have about £2500 going into our account every 4 weeks but the Halifax will still not upgrade out account so that we can get interest on our account, can anyone please help and tell me of any accounts (basic) if need be that will give interest. Thanks

why not open a halifax online saving a/c and move any spare the money between them? it means being very well organised by may make you a little interest

Despite my money troubles I opened a Lloyds Classic account last week with no trouble at all. (Didnt ask for an overdraft which I think means they do a different kind of credit check on them). This pays 0.1% and I was able to go straight online and upgrade it to a classic plus acocunt which pays 4% as long as you put in more than £1k a month!!!

They also have a refer a friend scheme where if you decide to open one you can quote my account details (see private message) and they will give us both £40.

If anyone else is thinking of opening a Lloyds Classic account PM me and I'll give you my account number too and we can both make cash!

I tried to open a basic account at Natwest but discovered they are suckage. What hurdles did you have to open the account at Lloyds?
