Exchange Rates

I'm off to New York on tour with my school next week and i was just wondering if anyone knew the best place to get my money changed. I know places like the post office and M&S change it at 0% commision but they have altered their exchange rates to make it favor them...........anyone know of any other good places?

Nationwide cash card and withdraw from cash machines over there, no commission and a better rate of exchange.
