Can i claim child benefit

Hi guys,

My first post so please be gentle,i am in full time employment and have 2 children my wife is a self employed registered childminder.
My question is: can i claim childcare expenses even if my wife looks after our children,we all live together at the same address?
I hope it does not sound to stupid of a question but with mp's claiming for everything i thought i might ask
Thanks

No, as she is the parent of the child looking after him/her.

If the child is over 3 years old but under school age and not in nursery your wife can claim 15 hours early years learning.

Every child in England and Wales over 3 years old but under school age is entitled to 15 hours per week early years funding. As a rule Nursery Schools claim this on behalf of the children that attend there sessions. If you are a reg child minder/ofsted recognised there is scope to claim this.

So if a parent is a registered childminder they can claim costs for looking after their own child
