Old Bottles of port

Have some bottles of Port which says 10 years old on the bottle and its been packed away in a box for about 6 years since we moved house.

Does anyone know will it be ok to drink please?:confused:

    Yes it should be fine, you may need to decant it though,as there may be sediment in the bottom!

    No need to bother with the decanting drink it in a oner then you won't give a toss what's at the bottom of the bottle!:beer:

    It should be absolutely fine. We have some port which was given to us at DS's christening, for him to enjoy when he's old enough to appreciate it.

    By my reckoning, that'll be when he's 25 at least..
    I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

    If the bottles are unopened it should be fine.

    10 year old refers to its age when bottled and doesn't increase with keeping.

    You still have 10 year old port.

    Port should be fine for years, I've got a 1976 10yr still lurking, only worth £25 max even though it was a good year

    As long as your careful with the sediment, watch for any cork damage and store correctly a good year will not 'need' to be drunk

    Bad years should be drunk really though

    Is port like wine whereby the storage is important ie. room/bottle temp etc?
