Compulsory House Insurance

It may have been asked before,but when I took out my mortgage with Northern Rock I was forced to take out House Insurance with them.Was this mis-sold and if so how can I claim it back?

    No you were not mis-sold. House insurance is required to get the mortgage. However, you are able to shop around and pay £25 to use another provider. You dont have to use their product although I do believe they did have some deals a while back that did require you to buy from them to get the deal (it may be someone else I am thinking of though). That isnt a mis-sale but you dont have to stay with them beyond renewal.
