How can I transport this cake???

I've just made a cake and iced it ready to take to work on Wednesday. Trouble is, I've got nothing I can put it in :o its quite large and round, its on a plate at the moment and I was going to cling film it, however I've since realised that obviously the cling film will stick to the icing

Does anyone have any idea how I can get this cake to work please!???

Measure it... and then we'll have a better idea.

You need a cardboard box that it will fit in. If necessary, adapt one that's too large and make a tray. You can then cover the top of the box with clingfilm. Either wedge it into the boot or footwell to stop it moving, or if the sides of the box are high enough and it is strong enough, strap it in with a seatbelt.

Or go and buy a cardboard cake box tomorrow!

What kind of icing is it? How do you travel?

A good old cardboard box might do the trick if you don't mind it sliding.

The pound shop next to me is selling cake carrying cases for £3 - look seriously good.

Not so money saving but you could always buy a tin of biscuits big enough for your cake and then scoff them and the cake... :D

Ok I think I've cracked it....not the cake lol. I've cut the front off a large cereal box and placed the plate into the box, then wrapped the box tightly in clingfilm to hold the cake in place. It will sit next to me in the car (or on the floor) to travel.

    Thanks for the ideas! x

just put it in the middle of your boot - I used to ice cakes and that is how we transported them - we didnt bother with boxes and always got there in one piece.

I always use these to transport cakes. use as many of the lids as you need to give a big enough base (you just cut down the sides so they all interlock), tape together underneath and then do the same with the actual box bit. If you want extra security you can run clingfilm round the outside of it all. If your colleagues are like mine they won't let a bit of bashed up cake bother them anyway!

We did this with DD2's wedding cake on the advice of cake lady. We were terrified, drove 30+ miles but it was absolutely fine!!
