Steadily reducing number of units in stakeholder pension?

I have a stakeholder pension with Norwich Union, and have noticed from my yearly statements that each year the number of units that I hold has reduced. I am baffled as to why this might be - can anyone shed any light?
Is the difference the annual charges? I just expected the charges to come out of the fund value, not the number of units.

Some companies factor the annual management charge into the unit price. Others take it from the units. Swings and roundabouts at the end of the day.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
