Windows Training: Free XBOX Games,Software +PC Equipment

Options
Hi all,

Thought I'd let you know about Windows Mobile Training, this is something that anyone can sign up for as long as they're in employment, I work for o2 so that's how I know about it, but most people with any passing connection to selling phones/Microsoft products can sign up (phone/computer shop staff/IT workers/department store workers- just be creative).

You use your email address as your username and all you have to do is take short tests on Microsoft mobile products (PDA's sync software etc). Each test comprises of a short training piece then a few questions based on it. Each take 5-10mins to do and earn you points.

When you've accumulated enough points (I built up 2700 in 45mins so it's easily possible to do in spare time or at work) you can claim them for MSoft Goods.

I chose a fingerprint reader (1900pts) and Rise Of Nations (800pts) Pc Game.

Other things you can get (all under 2500pts) - Wireless Mouse, Bluetooth Mouse, Keyboard, Selected XBOX games, a few bits of PC software, PC Games, and XBOX 1 hardware (controllers, memory, dvd remote).

Delivery is free and takes 8weeks or so, OH has already had 2 wireless mice (1 was broken so MS sent a replacement, sold the broken one on ebay for £8 and the buyer soldered it and mended it!!) and has a fingerprint reader on the way. They're great goods and it's no scam!

If you can, get signed up and remember points make prizes!!! :j

    Hi,

Do you have to work for a Windows Mobile™ Devices reselling business?

No, I work as a technical support advisor, a lot of the tests are sales based but you are allowed to do them and they're easy. You even get a certificate if you finish them all :D
  • Hi i am a student who builds pc's for people as a hobby/income. Do i qualify to use it?

Yneed to verify your status with an email from your employer's email address (ie, I emailed from my o2.com account and it verified me) or you can post a copy of your payslip. Not sure how it works for self-employed - only if you're VAT registered I suppose.

If not try getting your parents/siblings to join and do the tests for them - many people have no use for all this technology lol :)
  • It does say this on the site:

*This site was developed specifically for use by retail sales professionals who sell Windows Mobile devices at a retail location.

Think that rules me out, although I do work in IT
Why do companies offer you "free gifts?"
Since when has a gift NOT been free?

I too would advise against using this - as tempting as it is! The terms and conditions say specifically:
The intended audience for the Microsoft Windows Mobile Training Website is retail sales professionals working at physical retail locations that sell Microsoft Windows Mobile Devices. If you do not fit the definition of intended audience then you may not use this site.

    and...
As a condition of your use of the Services, you will not use the Services for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these terms, conditions, and notices.

    and finally...
You may not obtain or attempt to obtain any materials or information through any means not intentionally made available through the Services.

Granted the site protection is awful, but thats not an excuse to intentionally break their terms and conditions.

I'm self employed, so the thought of free MS software is very appealling - but I don't work at a "physical retail locations that sell Microsoft Windows Mobile Devices", so I wouldn't touch this with a bargepole.

Loopholes are one thing, but intentionally attempting to cheat software and hardware out of Microsoft whilst at the same time handing over my contact details is another thing entirely.

Neither do I- though as a tecchie I use them on a daily basis. Microsoft validated me as a recipient for the goods even though I've never worked in retail in my life. If they are happy to give me free PC equipment, I'm happy to take it!
