Anyone heard of Scorpion National Credit??

Hi

As the title suggests, I am wondering if anyone has received any correspondance from Scorpion National Credit?

I received a letter from them threatening to put a default on my credit file for ground rent I owe...but thanks to 'Just 1 Cornetto' I have now discovered that this company may not even exist! The information in the letter is correct as to how much I owe and who I owe it to and so I can only assume the estate agent has written it to get me to pay up....but I was made redundant in January and unfortunately don't have the money to pay.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a threatening letter from them?

Many thanks!

Hi guys...I's guessing no one has heard of them and the estate agent has made them up?? I guess it's cheaper than paying a debt collection agency if you just pretend to be one! I wouldn't have thought that would be allowed!

It seems they may not exist.

As you say, pretending to a debt collector when you aren't isn't allowed. I'll try to check on their status tomorrow and post back. If they are any kind of debt collection firm then they MUST have a consumer credit licence. I can check easily for you at work.
  • I have looked them up. It seems that this was a new company however management of this company have since closed and are not trading any longer, therefore i would not worry about the debt letter but more in why your solicitor didnt inform you about the outstanding ground rent when you purchased the premises. But do not worry about the debt company they are not trading and am confident you will receive no more letters from them

Many thanks to you both!
The firm of solicitors I used were later struck off by the Law Society for double billing the health service (or something along those lines) so they probably weren't concentrating too much on conveyancing, lol!!
