DWP Interview Checks

Hi everyone,

I have received letters about previous interviews, stating they are now undertaking pre-recruitment checks.

How long do these checks take?
I have no criminal background either, i'm just a bit nervous about my sickness, i have taken off a few days. But would they need 2 contact my employer, because i thought it was through Revenue and customs?

Checks are meant to take 20 days since they are sent off (crb checks) so check wise as long as they send the request when they write to you it shouldn't take much more than about 3 weeks. I heard someone say they ask HMRC for dates etc in the forum before.. but not sure about that, they ask for employee reference I thought they probabally did that for a reason

I was told they don't contact your recent employer, but your personal references instead, is that true?

it all depends who's doing the check (as in if they follow everything by the book) and what your position will be with the DWP when i started neither my previous employer or personal references were contacted, don't know about the crb check part though.

I have received a letter saying i have been successful for the ao post i applied for. It says its subject to pre recruitment checks. Does anyone know what this involves?
  • Hey everyone. I received my letter today, went to my competency based interview about 4 weeks ago. It says the same thing about being successful and them undertaking recruitment checks. It's such a long process...people keep asking me if I have heard about the job yet and to be honest, I don't know what to say to them

They only contact your references if your other checks come back inconclusive. Job checks etc. They just confirm you are not lying about any previous employment.

My crb took about three weeks to come back. But the actual disclosure was dated a few days after my success letter. So they must have taken 2 and a half weeks to get them back to me. So don't worry if you haven't got your crb back yet. Chances are they have processed them, just haven't sent them back to you yet.
