Garden Leave and Accrued Holiday

Options
I have recently handed in my notice giving the required 4 weeks written notice. My employer has decided to put me on garden leave until my notice period has finished. I have some accrued leave entitlement so should I be paid for this on top of my 4 wks paid garden leave?

Yes, you should. It is their decision to put you on gardening leave.

Unless you have written in the contract that the company reserves the right to ask you to take some amount on your holidays when it suits them...
So check your contract of employment what it says. I know for sure that mine says this and also mentions this in connection with leaving..
Did they mention anything about your holidays?

Contract states that am entitled to accrued holiday on termination of contract but may be required to use any holiday entitlement accrued during the notice period. So does this still apply with gardening leave?

    Yes, unfortunately it does.
They would have to tell you that though.

Best not to mention it till you finish your notice since they can just ask you to take he holiday.

Once the notice is over they owe you the holiday pay.
