I think I would aim my prices at 10-15% off recommended retail - less for academic books as the publishers hardly give me any margins.Postage between 94p and £ depending on weight - 3 working days if in stock.
It would be a lot more reliable than the big guys actually!
It would cost me £40 a month to run, plus I need to open an on-line credit card processing facility with £100 set up fee.0 -
It would be a fun thing to try though. For the sake of another couple of hundred I could have a bit of fun.0

Morning All!
Still trying to get my new dongle to work to still internetless at home (waaaaaaaa), but am in work today getting everything ready for tomorrow
On bookshops - for me its about what they can get hold of - most of the stuff I buy has to be ordered from the publisher anyway so its about how quickly they can do that and remember to let me know its in stock etc etc - you need a small independant for that - amazon and other booksellers dont have the customer service - its also about having a phone line to ring if it goes wrong or I have any queries...price isnt that big a deal, but thats because I know how hard amazon squeeze little shops so I try to avoid buying stuff on there
Remember my lovely red dres - am so cross - its not in stock and they didnt even let me know - I had to call them to find out why it hadnt been delivered = rubbish!!!
And my ebay shoes havent arrived (although shes left feedback so I hope they are on their way!)0 -

Bookie, could you use paypal? Would that work out cheaper for you?Too much month, not enough Cash!
Make £11000 in 2011 challenge - current total £1358.770 -
I think that WorldPay are better and they are more geared to business users so the fees (%'s) are slightly lower - but I would guess it depends on volume...personally paypal always strikes me as associated with ebay and a bit dodgy...but thats just me0

£40 per month is not a massive amount - are you tied in for twelve months....
I am not sure you need to have an online credit card processing facility but I agree with Becky paypal is quite costly.....have a look at worldpay.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Can't use Paypal for it.
It's a spur off of my wholsalers website customised to look as if it is my shop.It therefore gives access to thousands of titles. They then send them out with my logo etc.
If you have the book numbers you can search on gardners.com without me logging in or I can search for you to give you an idea of the range.0 -
I've finished work, coated myself in sunscreen and had half a tuna and cucumber sandwich for lunch. The ProPlus wore off about an hour and a 1/2 ago but I'm holding off taking some more for now as I don't want it going mid-way through the exam. I'm off to do some revision in a minute. I'll probably not be back on until after the exam, possibly a long way after it as I'm planning on going home straight after and going to sleep. Talk later.

well, there you go.
I go for an interview that I'm only told about 2 days beforehand.
I wait over 24 hours to be told they haven't appointed anyone.
I am offered feedback, but when I ask for it, I can't have it that day - or the next - because although the manager is there, she is on 'study leave'.
I phone - 3 times - just before, at and then 5 minutes after the time I have been asked to call her for feedback today - and she isn't there.
I've left a message saying she must be 'very busy' and if she did have any comments, to email me. I've even waited 10 minutes to see if she calls me back and she hasn't.
Not going to waste any more of my time on that situation. Even more glad I didn't get it - very rude not to be there when supposed to be - if something has happened, the least that could happen is that her PA pick up and explain. Just general rudeness to be honest.
