driving instructors and forster carers

Hi people, Does anyone know how or if bancruptcy affects driving instructors or potential forster carers? Will the person looking at bancruptcy be struck off the dsa driving instructors register? and would anyone wanting to become a forster carer be looked badly upon going into bancruptcy? Cheers folks!

We have had a couple of driving instructors on here that have gone bc and as far as i recall they had no problems whatsoever. Also had a member who fostered and then adopted(adopted before bc was started) so whilst not 100% on that one, i don't think it would affect it too much. Your ability to look after children should not be judged by how you handle your finances. Good luck.Dx

Just to note, your fostering allowances are likely to be taken into account as an income for your soa.

My friend was training to be a driving instructor, one of the forms she had to fill in asked if you'd ever been made bankrupt. If so then you couldn't apply. This may just be for gainigna position with training schools.

You may be best to seek advise from the DVLA or whoever the govening body is?

Hi. The criteria for becoming an instructor is, are you a fit and proper person. Whether being BR is fit and proper within the DSA criteria is something you had best ask them. Below is a link with a phone number, call them up and ask. They won't bite;)

Just because the question of BR is on the forms doesn't necessarily mean it would preclude you.

Just to add if you are already a driving instructor then why tell them, just renew your badge as normal. After all they (The DSA)are only in it for the money. I have not been struck off but will not continue.

Please be wary of the driving instructor route as a job it is not what it seems. If you need any info on the many pitfalls just ask;)
