Same as Jane Blackford, couldn't afford to keep up membership. Apparently you can rejoin again without redoing the tests.

Good job too as I reckon my top 2% has dipped to bottom 20% since having the kids!

I know the feeling! And you can rejoin - did it once then realised why I hadn't bothered!

The posters who have said they were members but left because of the cost, how much does it cost ?
And are there any advantages being a member ?

Hi SailorSam, from the Mensa website:

Membership of British Mensa, the High IQ Society, is open to anyone who can demonstrate an IQ in the top two per cent of the population, measured by a recognised or approved IQ testing process.
This can be achieved through evidence of previous testing by a qualified psychologist, or by taking a Supervised Mensa IQ Test.
So why take an IQ Test? Discovering that you have a high IQ can have a wealth of positive effects on a person. Not only does a high IQ look good on CVs and UCAS applications, it can provide a significant confidence boost.
Please use the menu links to find out more about the different types of testing offered by Mensa.

Anyone who has shown they have an IQ in the top 2% - either from prior testing or after taking a Mensa Supervised IQ Test - is sent an invitation to join Mensa, the High IQ Society.
The annual membership fee is only £45 with discounts for people paying by direct debit. A concessionary fee of £25 is available to members aged under 18 and the unwaged.
Members are able to access a social network of 24,000 intelligent friends in the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands, as well as more than 100,000 members worldwide, receive a monthly colour magazine, regional newsletters and can sign up for more than 100 Special Interest Groups.

This home test is sent to you for free, but do you have to pay for them to mark it when you send it back?
In my youth I applied for a test and was very shocked when they wanted £15 to mark it - in the mid 80's, who knows what they would charge now?

    It's only a game

Cant remember paying for a home test. You have this marked then are invited to a test centre to undergo a supervised test with other candidates.
