I've finally got a reply from Lloyds TSB

Hi everyone,
well, i'll just fill you in first on how things started....
In Feb on this year myself and my husband desided we would send a letter to Lloyds TSB asking that they refund me the PPI which I took out on a loan. I took this loan out about 5 years ago and re-paid it in mid-2008. I had always maintained that i was pressurised into taking the PPI (various diff reasons) and had unfortunately let the sales person talk me into it as at the time i was in a financial mess and desperately required the loan.
Well anyway finally they have just come back to me this friday with what i can only describe as 'the same crap letter they send to everyone'. However, they have offered me a £400 goodwill gesture which I not willing to accept considering they owe well over £2000.
My husband actually helped with the letter (he works in the finance/insurance sector) and he listed every single concern i had with a full explanation, but their response is so rubbish that it doesn't even come back with a response to my concerns. The only thing they have is 'i signed an agreement' (which i have never disputed - my letter never once said i didn't re-call signing a document, it stated i was pressurised and miss-sold the ppi) and lloyds tsb staff 'never miss-sell'...oh and they have to complete a work book for general insurance and read a hand book - so based on those 2 things their staff can't possibly miss-sell - what a complete joke...
Well letter number 2 is all good to go so that will be landing on lloyds tsbs desk next week...
one thing i am happy about is that fact they have offered a good will gesture which by posts i have read on this forum is lloyds tsb usually turn round and say no in the first letter, so here's hoping the next letter gets me what i am due...
i also pointed out to them that i had closed all my accounts/credit card with them due to how they operate...they are cold hard sellars and never once have listened to me when i have needed help...
a) i had a £50 overdraft (which was free with my current account) which i temp extended. however when they reverted it back they even took my £50 overdraft away which sent me £10 overdrawn and then when i phoned them up (i was at home ill) i spoke to some call centre who said i couldn't have it back but extend my loan i had at the time. oh and when i was basically crying down the phone they offered to sell me home insurance.
b) another time i needed a temp o/d i went into the branch (£50 required), the guy tapped some things into the machine and said no, so i said i really needed the money and he said there was no way so i said fine i will draw it off my c.card instead which he let me do (more profit for them)
c) another time when i was due a review, lloyds harrassed me non stop until i went to see them, then they did the cold hard sell for a whole hour trying to persuade me to combine my loan and c.card even though i told them i would have the funds to clear my c.card within the next 4 weeks - again i walked out and was sooo angry.
d) for about 8 months, on a weekly basis i received letter from lloyds offering me to extend my loan - in the end i went into the branch with all the letters and demanded that they stop pestering me!
As you can tell i am a lloyds hater, they started off v.good but the last 3 years with them was a misery. i have for the last 18 months banked with first direct and they are brilliant, we get no hassle from them what so ever and are absolutely terrific whenever we need to call them - which is not very often...
sorry if i have gone on, u will be please to know my rant is over

Hi there and welcome.
You've been through it with Lloyds then haven't you?
And I know they are not the easiest to deal with and have been banking with them for at least 18 years.
If they don't resolve your case to your satisfaction then as you know you can move your complaint on to the Financial omnbudsman service (FOS).
Even though they have offered you a goodwill payment - I don't blame you for wanting to go for the whole lot, you have your reasons.
You may be aware that Lloyds are one of those that reject at least 95% of these complaints, where they are mainly resolved within the FOS.
I wish you luck and I am sure it will get sorted out in the end, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

I am helping my mum claim her PPI back from LLoyds TSB. Am now prepared for the lengthy letter writing process that is before me!!!!!!!
I sent her letter off about 5 weeks ago, so far, they have sent two letters which make absolutely no sense to me. The first one, they said that they were sending her letter to the Lloyds TSB insurance team. Following the other leads from other Money Savers, I think they just hear/see insurance and get the wrong end of the stick. In my opinion, this just reveals how badly trained the staff are. Perhaps they don't see the word reclaim, or they might have a clue as to the nature of the complaint.
And don't worry about ranting!!!!! You have to do it some where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Lloyds are just absolutely awful, I would never bank with them again not in a million years. Don't get me wrong, in the 2 branches there were some lovely staff but unfortunately the bad staff far outweighed the good ones so in the end I got rid of everything I had with them. The funny thing was that the helpful staff who didn't try to sell me everything going tended to be ladies in their late 40's-late 50's so had obs been in the business for a number of years back when they cared about customer service...
Just waiting on a response now to my final letter which I allowed 14 days for a reply - checked recorded delivery and it was delivered and I can see the signature...now the waiting game...0 -
Just found your thread so ignore the question on mine. Good luck with the letter. I'll keep you updated with my case. I plan to send the complaint this week.Official DFW Member no:4100
