Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the 2.5 Shogun Sport Warrior and the Trojan?

Are either any good as I'm thinking of buying one?

  • Have you thought about the pick up version instead, remember if the estate car version is regd after 2001 it'll go up to £400+ VED next year, if you get the pick up of any year it'll be £180 or £190 (used to be the case that early Euro4's were taxed at £120 ish, but don't know if thats still the case.

Course if you buy the estate car version regd before 01 you'll be OK at normal over 1500cc rate.

I can't help you on the differences, but i will say that pick ups have a lot going for them, not least is that the load area is separate from the interior, therefore muck and dust, spiders, dog hairs, smells etc don't permeat the cabin.
A good hardtop over the pick up bed and you'll have a very tough versatile motor...OH has a Hilux and loves it.

The 400 quid VED only aplies to the ones reg'd after March 26th 2006...

Harvey's right, the tax for 2001 to 2006 models will be about £215 this and next year, but after that it's anyone's guess.
The retrospective was due to be implemented in 09 but was postponed in the budget.
I'd still be wary of sharp increases in this sector after 2010, would you trust a politician?
My mistake, i took my beady off the ball for a second and the goal posts had shifted.

My friend had the warrior version but hated it with a passion. Was awful to drive on the road and average off.

I only drove it a few times and didn't think it was that hot either. On the plus side nothing went wrong with it.

I must admit, they are truly awful to drive on the roads! Not the sort of vehicle that gets me running for the keys when an errand is needed...

The Toyota Surf is normally rated a much better drive than the Shogun Sport
