Seventy years on from the outbreak of the Second World War, the 2009 Biggin Hill Air Fair will be both a spectacular show and a fitting memorial to the heroes of the RAF. On the last weekend of June, the skies over Kent will be filled with aircraft of all descriptions as the fair educates and entertains to commemorate the sacrifices made by Allied aircrews in the Battle of Britain. You could be there, arriving in style in a beautifully-restored Spitfire, if you enter this exclusive competition from The Sunday Times and the TV channel, HISTORY.
On Friday, June 26 — Youth and Veterans Day — our winner will be flown to the famous Battle of Britain fighter station, RAF Biggin Hill, in The Grace Spitfire ML407. The pilot will be Carolyn Grace, the owner of ML407, who restored the aircraft with her late husband, and who supports RAF Biggin Hill in its educational work.
The flight may, if the winner desires, include a classic Spitfire victory roll and the winner may, subject to satisfactory briefing, take control of the Spitfire for a while. The prize also includes VIP hospitality and hotel accommodation for four people, a DVD of the flight, a Sky+ HD subscription and a 32” Sony Bravia HDTV. 10 runners-up will each win a family ticket to the RAF Biggin Hill Air Fair on June 27 or 28.
