Can I claim tax relief on loan interest?

My car is used for business mileage for which I am claiming tax relief as my employer gives me much less than the 'allowed' 40p per mile. I have heard that I can also claim tax relief on the interest on a loan taken out to buy my car, pro rata for the tax year in question. Is this true does anyone know?
