HSBC rejected mortgage as not using its current account

I might have done biggest mistake of my life. I got current account with HSBC, which i dont use at all. Its just inactive. £100 in this account from last 3 years and no incoming and no outgoing...
I have got account with another bank which is my primary account and all pay goes in this account and all bills come out from same...
Then i applied for a mortgage with HSBC and was rejected because a mark of 'NIL credit' is set on my HSBC current account. I don't really understand this mark but what is the way round?
Obviously my credit report is good with no negitive thing... No loan outstanding and never faild to pay cc bills etc. reg for electrol roll.
> How can i sort this out and get mortgage with HSBC?
> Should i had closed HSBC account?
> Should i now close this account?
Many thanks in advance.

Strange.
I cant say I know of a lender that refuses mortgages just because you do not have a current account with them.
There must be something else.0 -

HSBC use internal credit scoring as well as a credit search. I would hazard a guess that your behavioural score is low plus the 'nil' marker (which means no overdraft even unauthorised) is calling the decline.0

This can be reversed if the advisor sends up a specific document to state the reason why they would like the rejection to be accepted. Contact the advisor again. Hopefully you have not done this over the phone or the net as you will be out of luck.
If so, close the account and wait a month. It will still be a reject but the advisor in branch should be able to reverse the decision.
Andy is correct. Due to the account being inactive, the system has declined your application.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Banks and building societies hate DUAL BANKERS! Or triple, whatever you are! It is ok to have multiple accounts of savings but they really hate people who have inactive accounts. This should not really stop people obtaining a mortgage even if the dumb system declines the application the first time. Advisors are mean't to use their common sense and should I apply for these decisions to be reversed! Common sense would be for them to say that you have giving them bank statements of another bank and that this is your main account.
In order to get that inactive account moving, all you have to do is add money to it such as a £10 or too. You can get these active by rolling money in to it. This does not apply to saving accounts.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
