won't help for the immediate next few days, but have a look at Music Magpie. You can sell you CD's and DVDs and send them free post. They send you a cheque back. I'm just about to send a box of CD's off and will get almost £30 in return. You don't get much per CD but if you have a load you never play it is an easy way to offload them for quick money.

    Hi LittlePink

Have you spoken to student advice at your college to see if they can give you any pointers for how to manage over the summer? They should know as I'm sure you're not the only one wondering how you'll manage.

Are there any benefits you can claim for the period in between college and uni? Or that your mum can claim to help support you? I really don't mean to be cheeky as you haven't said how you work out your digs money or what it covers, but if you could get some help with the 'rent' then I would have thought £150 would go a good way towards covering your share of utility bills and food.

I hope things work out with your job when the manager changes.

    Good luck

No, i didn't get a chance to go up today, its in the other building, and none of my classes are in that building.
I don't really know anything about benefits, or what types there are, so i don't know if i'd be eligible for any of them. My mum gets child benefit for my little brother, he's 12. She is a hairdresser, and sometimes her friends pay her to do their hair, but that is like once maybe twice a month.

I don't know how my mum works out the money i give her, i used to pay her £200, but when i went back to college after last summer she put it down to £150, and now college is finishing again its going back up to £200.
I think it mostly goes towards food, electricity, gas and internet. As thats all i use in this house really. She doesn't pay rent or have a mortgage, she owns this house.
Erm...i don't know what else she has to pay, money isn't really spoke about in this house.

I'd go and see student advice the next chance you get. Maybe give them a ring in advance just in case you need an appointment. I've no idea what benefits you could get either as I'm not sure how your student status will affect things or how old you are, but you might be able to claim something so it's worth asking and student advice should have an idea. And they should know about hardship funds, crisis loans etc as well.

I'm guessing it would be difficult to talk to your mum about your money situation if it's not been discussed before, so let's hope you can find other options first.

Let us know how you get on. And you sound a bit stressed so have a hug :grouphug:.

I don't really see your problem; you have £20 left after all your outgoings and those outgoings include non essentials like clothes, entertainment and mobile phone. If you can pick up more hours or another job then you'll have money to spare, if not you'll survive until September.
