Will we get a reomrtgage?

Hello everyone. We have a mortgage with Swift and it is killing us (£1400 per month). We were looking to move away. Our house is worth 300,000 and the mortgage is for 175,000. I have a real bad credit file and my husband has only 1 default on his for £1700 in 2004. It isnt even supposed to be there but that is another story. What do you think the chances are of us getting a remortgage even just in his name. He earns approx. 45,000 a year as a Manager.
Any help would be appreciated.

.... the only way is to make enquiries with several lenders or go to a broker to be sure.... have you looked closely at your outgoings, as you should be able to service £1400 on 45k a year??
