data entry

Options
Does any one know of any data entry jobs that can be done from home. I have tried several, and they all seem to be a waste of time. They offer to take you on if you pay them! Is there any legit ones that do not involve working thru india, and sorting the exchange rate?

There are - freelance jobs often require people to do data entry work. I've picked some up that way.

From compiling lists into Excel, through to copying/pasting names/addresses from websites into Word.

I just looked where I go and right now there's a job for somebody to:
Type up words from images -10,000 pages/day available, with weekly pay.

I don't know if you've noticed when you sign up for forums and there's an image there and you have to type in the characters into a box ... I'd guess that this job was going through those images and typing what they are for the database of a website ... just guessing though.

Most of the online ones are a scam so avoid like a plague. If you go to a temp agency they may be able to find you some, although that may be more of 9-5 thing rather than something you can do at home.

Firstly, to say that you will be extremely lucky to get one as in the UK we are far from the idealistic 'home working' thing some other countries have enjoyed for years. Secondly, already covered but most are just rip offs, slave working and involved YOU paying THEM for the work.

Thirdly, there are a number of companies (don't ask me who they are but I know they DO having seen them online) in the London area particularly which farm out script dictation (screenplays, that kind of thing) to home workers. However, the catch usually involves you have to do it within a certain time eg a deadline, and you only get paid so much per page/word/whatever.

However, already been said, but you will be extremely lucky to find any that doesn't involve a scam of some form. It's a market the scammers have cornered quite deftly in this country if nothing else because they know there are always people out there desperate for cash.

It may well even be that the only real 'home work' available is to those who already are in an employment sector that means they can do the work as easily at home as in their office. Long way off, though, for a 'pick and choose/mix' culture for those who aren't already in that sector already doing it.
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.
